I found this book interesting even though it was a little slow starting but it was a really good murder book and kept me guessing. The characters are really those you could love to hate. But in the end it all comes out. It made me decide to never go out on this kind of trip. Slow to start but ends with a bang.Product details

Another great read from Delany. As always I am holing on until the end wondering who done it.
I enjoyed this book also but i think i missed Molly Smith. I still think Vicki Delany can spin a good yarn.
Leanne Aimes is recently divorced, has lost custody of her two sons, and has changed careers from police officer to special investigator. Feeling really down, she decides to go on a wilderness trip in the wilds of Ontario. Expecting the trip to be peaceful and restorative, she instead finds herself in a group of people who don't get along, and just as a severe and protracted thunderstorm hits, stranding them in a lakeshore camp, one of the campers is found dead. The storm, which lasts for days, is so well described that it makes you feel wet and cold just reading about it. The characters are well developed, and the story stays exciting throughout.
I had 2 complaints. The first is that there was not enough background about Leanne. We never find out why she lost custody of her children, or why she left the police department. The second is that the proofreading was really awful. I have found this problem in many e-books, and I really don't understand why a little more care can't be taken. It's simply unprofessional to offer such a product to customers.
I enjoyed Vicki Delany's Molly Smith series, so was interested in exploring some of her other books. The Canadian wilderness setting is lovely, and there are intriguing characters, but I like Molly better.
I love DeLaney's Constable Molly Smith series. This book feels like she was just getting started and wasn't nearly as well written. I would recommend skipping this book and reading the series which is great.
Story line and ending good but too long and wordy for the story. I only liked it cause I was visiting in the boundry waters of MN at the time. If you like canoe trips then this would be a fun read.
